Rain, rain, go away.......

Oh I know, we DO need the moisture, but this is evidence as to why we need curb and gutter instead of a make-shift burm at the end of our drive-way. It may not rain this hard more than once or twice a year, but it doesn't matter. The city needs to get a drain out there to protect our house and our neighbors, the Fronks. Jeff has sloped the grass between our house and the garage so that it will flow between the two. I didn't go out in the rain when it was it's worse, but these pictures will give you an idea of what happened.

This amount of rain happened in a short period of time.
We have a drain system in front of the garage because of this very reason. The rain will flow down the drive-way and come out of this pipe. At one point, it was even bubbling up out of that hole.
It's hard to see how much rain was running down the drive-way.
The rain came flowing down the street and jumped the asphalt burm and then flowed across the gravel and either went down the drive-way or as you can see in this picture, started to flow on the grass down to the pine trees in the front of the house.
Look how heavily it is going down the drive-way and spilling in between the trees.
Within just a couple of minutes there was a major amount of water and I wasn't going to walk into it, sorry!
From years of water doing this, our drive-way is sinking and cracking in several areas. We are half tempted to tell the city we want them to re-do it all when they do the curb and gutter.

This is about a 1/2 inch crack and has sunk at least that much if not more.

The puddle in between the two pines started to spill over and was heading toward the basement windows.
You can see how the gravel was moved by the flowing water.
..............came again another day.........once we have a curb and gutter and better drainage.
